Abstract
Since 1990, the Web has been the most popular way of utilising the Internet. With its rapid acceptance by many, numerous web-based applications have been developed covering online banking, healthcare, and business management. In the last five years, research and applications of Cloud and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) have become active in such areas like transportation, smart home, robotic surgery, aviation, defence, and critical infrastructure. Cloud and CPS also positively affected manufacturing in form of Cloud-Based Cyber-Physical Production Systems in condition monitoring, process automation and control. On the other hand, advancements in Web/Internet/Cloud-based systems and applications have opened up the possibility for industries to utilise the cyber workspace to conduct efficient and effective collaborations from anywhere in distributed manufacturing environments. For example, remote robot control becomes relevant not only in rescue operations but also in cyber manufacturing environments where distant operations can be done quickly and economically. However, cyber security is always a headache negatively affecting its real usage in critical manufacturing operations. Due to the huge application potentials of CPS in manufacturing and yet the lack of common understanding of CPS in manufacturing sector, there is a need to systematically review and understand the current status and the latest advancement of CPS with future trends identified. This talk will thus cover the current status and the latest advancement of CPS in manufacturing, particularly in cloud environment. In order to understand CPS and its future potential in manufacturing, definitions and characteristics of CPS will be explained and compared with cloud manufacturing concept. Research and applications will be outlined to highlight the latest advancement in the field. While CPS shows great promise in factories of the future, challenges towards Internet-of-Everything and sustainable manufacturing in the areas of future trends remain to be identified in this talk.

Biography
Lihui Wang is a Professor and Chair of Sustainable Manufacturing at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. His research interests are focused on cyber-physical systems, cloud manufacturing, real-time monitoring and control, human-robot collaborations, adaptive and sustainable manufacturing systems. Professor Wang is actively engaged in various professional activities. He is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Manufacturing Research, Editor of Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing and Associate Editor of Journal of Manufacturing Systems and International Journal of Production Research. He has published 7 books and authored in excess of 350 scientific publications. Professor Wang is a Fellow of CIRP, SME and ASME, and a Board Director of North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME.
王力翚教授是瑞典皇家理工學(xué)院可持續(xù)制造的首席教授,研究興趣是信息物理系統(tǒng)、云制造、遠(yuǎn)程實(shí)時(shí)監(jiān)控、人機(jī)協(xié)同、自適應(yīng)和可持續(xù)制造系統(tǒng)。王教授是國(guó)際期刊《International Journal of Manufacturing Research》主編、《Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing》《Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing》的編輯和《Journal of Manufacturing Systems》 and《 International Journal of Production Research》的副主編,出版學(xué)術(shù)專(zhuān)著7本,發(fā)表論文350余篇。王力翚教授是CIRP、SME、ASME會(huì)士,SME北美制造研究所的委員會(huì)主任。
